The Chapter Relations Committee recently received an application for a new specialty chapter. The idea for this chapter was an outgrowth of last year’s symposium on carriage clocks. The lead organizers for this International Carriage Clocks Chapter are Dr. Stan Boyatzis, Keith Potter, Doug Minty and Carl Sona, all from Australia. The chapter petition includes 55 members from around the world. As soon as the remaining organizational documents are received and reviewed by the Chapter Relations Committee, the application will be forwarded to the Board. [more]

Last Wednesday, our website 4sale.nawcc.org was upgraded to the latest version. This was to address some incompatibilities between various web browsers and the old version and also to take advantage of enhancements in the newer version. The cost of the upgrade installation was $49. The annual cost of upgrades and support for the site is $279. Marcus Harris our communications director will be working the next several weeks on streamlining the site to make it easier to use. The 4Sale site currently has almost 1,100 NAWCC members registered on the site and almost 1,800 registered non-members who can purchase from auction and classified listings where sellers are willing to sell to the public. We encourage sellers to use the built in PayPal link to automate auction sales especially when selling to the public. [more]

After years of effort, we have been notified that the National Watch & Clock Museum has been awarded Accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). This is the highest national recognition for a museum. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum-going public. Of the nation’s estimated 17,500 museums, 1,005 are currently accredited. The National Watch & Clock Museum is one of only 35 museums accredited in Pennsylvania. A big thank you is due Noel Poirier, our museum director and all the staff who have worked for years on this effort. The Board and former Museum Trustees are also to be commended for their long-term dedication to this goal. [more]
