The Palm Beaches of Florida Chapter 99, NAWCC
On November 7, 1976, 25 members of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors gathered in John Prince Memorial Park in Palm Beach County, Florida. They held an organizational meeting and prepared a petition asking the NAWCC to grant them a charter and asked to be known as The Palm Beaches of Florida Chapter 99, NAWCC. Ralph Derrick was appointed temporary chairman.
By December 5, 1976, second organizational meeting was held at J F Kennedy Hospital. A total of 30 members had now signed the petition, and it was submitted on the next day to national headquarters.
From that modest beginning, under the leadership of a succession of Chapter Presidents starting with Gren Beachler in 1977, the chapter grew and prospered. In 1993 we were the proud recipients of the NAWCC Chapter of the Year Award. Today, we are the largest chapter in Southeast Florida, with over 130 paid members. From our central location in the southeast region, we draw attendees from Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, and St. Lucie Counties.
We meet at 8:00 am on the 1st Sunday of each month, except for July and September, at:
American Polish Club
4725 Lake Worth Road
Greenacres, FL 33463
Directions: On the north side of Lake Worth Road, just west of Military Trail. This area is a suburb of West Palm Beach.
Meetings include a mart, followed by an educational program or workshop, usually featuring a live speaker. Attendance usually runs about 60 members and guests, and around 20 mart tables.
We welcome you to join our chapter if you are already a member of NAWCC, or maybe you’d like to visit and then decide on joining. Either way, you will enjoy the company of a group of watch and clock enthusiasts who love to share what they know in a casual horological setting.
