NAWCC Chapter 176 - Big Bend Timekeepers
Big Bend Timekeepers is the local chapter of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors
. We have six regularly scheduled meetings per year on the third Saturday of odd numbered months. See our calendar
for upcoming meetings. We meet at 10:00 a.m. in the back room at Beef O'Brady's (1830 Thomasville Road in Tallahassee) and usually finish around 1:00. Members come from all over North Central Florida and South Georgia, regularly driving from as far as Albany, Panama City, and Dowling Park, and sometimes Jacksonville. Guests or persons interested in membership are invited to attend.
Each meeting begins as a casual gathering with a mart where members offer horological items for sale or trade, discuss or show their recent acquisitions, and engage in conversation and fellowship. A formal business meeting comes next and is followed by a lecture from a member or guest on some aspect of horology. Lunch follows the lecture.
A typical meeting has 25 - 30 members and guests. Guests are free. Members pay $10 per meeting. Check Chapter Events
to get information on the latest horological lecture.
The public is welcome to bring their antique timepieces between 10:00 and 11:00 if they would like us to examine them and offer our opinion of what they have.
We occasionally offer education classes and in past years we have offered weekend courses in pocket watch repair, time and strike clock repair, reverse painting on glass, and the use of horological tools and methods.
